A Beginner’s Guide To SEO And The Benefits That Come With It

Search Engine Optimization is the means by which you maximize the amount of people who see your website by way of putting the link to your page as high as possible in a search, presumably on Google. Provided that your product or service is any good, more traffic to your site should yield more investment and purchases from more people. So in other words, SEO is an investment, assuming that you will make your money back once people actually are made aware of what you’re selling.

Statistics from a study by online ad network Chitika show that the number one position on a Google search retains some 33% of the views, and the percentages drop off dramatically with each step down. The second position is nearly half, at about 15%, the third is at 10%, and so forth. That means that even if you show up on the first page, you are still far behind those above you in unique views and user traffic. And if you show up anywhere after the first page, you can render your page virtually useless.

So how does one optimize his or her website? The secret lies in unique original content, which in turn yields more organic results. Organic results are fundamentally different from sponsored results, in that they appear naturally on a search, as opposed to appearing at the top of the page and being labeled an advertisement. When a Google search is made, the top of the page has a list of Google Ads, which are labeled as such. This exposes the company as having paid for their spot at the top, which some would consider to be at the expense of the company’s authenticity.

Organic results, on the other hand, increase a company’s ranking, which in turn can draw a more loyal customer following. The higher the ranking the higher up your company will appear in a search.

So, once again, original content is the key to good SEO services and increasing your rank. That pertains to both internal and external content. That is, the writing on each of the pages within your website (homepage, landing pages, blog articles, Services Provided pages, etc.), as well as content on pages that can lead one back to your website (external blog articles, backlink pages). Internal and external content are equally important.

Embedded in this original content must be trending keywords that are related to your service or product. So for example, let’s say you have a customized pants company. First you must find what keywords are most frequently searched for that are related to customized pants and fashion. Then you can get started with your content creation marketing, which, as mentioned, includes the content within your website and that which is found in external pages like blogs, etc. Include in this content the exact keywords that you have found to be trending (frequently searched for).

Bear in mind that Google is a tremendously intelligent thing that knows when your content doesn’t exactly, well, make sense. So if you try to slip in a keyword that either is grammatically incorrect or is not related to the rest of the content in your article, Google will know it, and you will be punished.

So in closing, keep it original, write well, and use your keywords. Mind you, this is only the tip of the iceberg.
